New journalist network will enhance the pan-African movement to eliminate malaria 6 February 2020, Freetown, Sierra Leone - Today, with support from the National Malaria Control Program and Speak Up Africa, a new media coalition in Sierra Leone has been launched as part of the pan-African Zero Malaria Starts with Me movement to eliminate malaria by 2030. The Malaria Media Coalition seeks to engage journalists in Sierra Leone by: • Energising journalists to report on malaria and take an active role

Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of Mozambique, launched his country’s Zero Malaria Starts with Me (Zero malaria começa comigo) campaign in June 2018 at the Maputo Malaria Forum. In Mozambique, the campaign will increase the effectiveness of investments in the malaria fight through improving cooperation among State, civil society, the private sector, and community actors.

8 November 2019 - Today, the United Republic of Tanzania announced the launch of its first national Zero Malaria Starts with Me campaign, becoming the 11th nation to join the ever-growing Pan-African movement, co-led by the RBM Partnership to End Malaria and the African Union. The campaign was launched during the Southern African Community (SADC) Malaria Day that was commemorated on the sidelines of the SADC Health Minister’s Meeting in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

3 October 2019 – This week Ethiopia announced the launch of its national Zero Malaria Starts With Me campaign, to help accelerate malaria elimination. Launched by His Excellency Mr Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, the country becomes the 10th nation to join the continent-wide movement.
